What a marketplace listing does
The Knot and WeddingWire, both part of The Knot Worldwide, sell vendors a storefront in front of couples who are browsing. You get photos, reviews, a profile and a way for couples to message you. Pricing is quoted by sales and depends on your market and category.
A listing is marketing. It works when couples in your area search there and when your storefront stands out. Whether it pays back depends on how many bookings come from it.
What venue software does
Venue management software, such as WIBookAI, is where an inquiry becomes a booking. It tracks the pipeline, holds the date, sends the agreement for signature, records deposits and payments, and keeps the guest count, catering, layout and timeline together.
It does not bring couples to you. It makes sure the couples who do reach you don't slip through and that the event runs smoothly.
Five questions before you renew a listing
1. How many of last year's bookings started on the marketplace? Count signed contracts, not inquiries.
2. What did each of those bookings cost you in listing fees?
3. How quickly did you answer those inquiries? Slow replies waste paid leads, and software helps more here than a bigger listing.
4. How long is the contract, and can you cancel early?
5. Do your best bookings come from referrals, your own website or Google instead?
A common setup
Many venues keep one marketplace for discovery, their own website for search, and venue software for everything after the inquiry. If you only fund one, fund the one that fixes your real bottleneck: too few inquiries, or too many dropped balls.
